Rutgers Law School Assists Camden Residents with Medical and Legal Issues

Students from Rutgers Law School work in tandem with community health professionals in Camden, NJ, to help improve residents’ lives and their overall health. The legal team is available to give advice on tickets, arrests, or fines to reduce stress in their daily lives. In addition, the larger multi-disciplinary group assists residents in getting their basic needs met for health care, housing, food, personal and family stability, and education.

“The partnership allows us to integrate a lawyer onto our interdisciplinary care team in order to truly provide whole-person care and address the various legal barriers our patients face,” says Laura Buckley, Camden Coalition’s senior program manager for care management initiatives.
